Mrinalini Aggarwal

Installation Artist, Arts Organizer

Mrinalini (Supermrin’s) practice is an anti-disciplinary exploration of space—its qualities, potentialities, vacancies. She builds large-scale, site specific installations that create emotional, embodied experiences of sacred, internal spaces. She is interested in cities and the explosions of life that occupy, alter, and manipulate urban architecture. Supermrin grew up in Delhi where public space is both precious and shared, often the only source of nurturance, stability, and even freedom. Through a hybrid practice involving architecture, art, and design, her works seek to re-consider the values that spaces offer and the ways through which they mediate human relationships. Supermrin holds an MFA degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and an undergraduate degree in Exhibition and Spatial Design from the National Institute of Design, India. She led the research and design departments of Abaxial Architects, India for 8 years before moving to California. She is presently on a year-long fellowship at the Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, CA.
