Melissa San Miguel Quintana
Exhibits Assistant and Teaching Assistant
Melissa San Miguel Quintana is a Latina visual artist born and raised in the Mission district of San Francisco to Peruvian working-class immigrants. As a painter and draughtswoman, Melissa explores issues of identity through color, line and texture. Melissa has served as a Teaching Artist, a Grant Panelist for the San Francisco Arts Commission, and on curatorial and education teams at SFMOMA and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. She is the Exhibits Assistant at City College of San Francisco and the teaching assistant for Professor Claire Brees. In a previous career, Melissa served as a state legislative advocate for children in foster care and low-income youth. Melissa graduated as Class Valedictorian in Political Science at UC Berkeley.
