Bio
I’m a nonprofit arts administrator, artist, and writer with a passion for organizational processes, experimental archives, and the production and display of site-specific art in cultural heritage sites. In all my work, I aim to be a respectful listener and communicator and to facilitate an environment of consensus, collaboration, and co-leadership.
I have more than 15 years of experience in administration, primarily in the Bay Area, and most recently at Southern Exposure, where as Communications & Outreach Director I set and implemented strategies around marketing and engagement in close collaboration with my counterparts in the program, education, and development departments.
I received my BA from Bryn Mawr College and my MA in Curatorial Studies from Stockholm University, and was a 2017-2018 Fellow with Emerging Arts Professionals – San Francisco Bay Area.
Fellowship Bio & Vision Statement
Lisa Martin is an arts administrator and visual artist interested in institutional structures, archives, histories, and heritage – ways of accessing, living, remembering, and calling into question the past. She was born and raised in the East Bay. Lisa received her BA from Bryn Mawr College and her MA in Curatorial Studies from Stockholm University, and has an extensive background in arts administration in the Bay Area. She is currently the Communications & Outreach Director at Southern Exposure, a San Francisco-based nonprofit organization that supports visual artists.
