Astrid Kaemmerling

Artist/Researcher/Arts Educator

I am an artist, educator, researcher and writer who specializes in interdisciplinary arts with specific focus upon the intersection between art practice and research. My current research explores the roles of arts and artists in urban gentrification processes in San Francisco through the work of contemporary walking artists. My understanding of interdisciplinary learning environments arrives from studying the educational legacy of Black Mountain College. I earned both my B.A. and M.A. from TU Dortmund University, Germany, double majoring in Fine Art and English/American Studies and am currently a Ph.D. Candidate seeking a degree in Interdisciplinary Arts.
